Equally influenced by vintage acts such as the Mahavishnu Orchestra and Magma, polymetric metal like Meshuggah, and the improvisational approach of Vijay Iyer and Ben Monder, Zevious is a distinctive fusion band in the burgeoning punk-jazz movement. Their sound points toward a focused musical ground of complex rhythms and lasting melodies, but it is also quite apparent upon listening that these guys can shred. Their new cd will soon be released by Cuneiform Records. Alcoholic beverages will be available for sale to those of a legal age. Also, the kitchen will be open to serve crabcakes, lobster ravioli, and other Neptunian marvels, at very reasonable prices, to what will surely be a vast throng of ravenous jazz aficionados. |
